Another weekend, another special Droid Event. The people pushing these are learning a bit I think because they ran the last event for R2-D2 for two weekends. This event for C-3PO is running for 24 hours straight. The main complaint with these events has been the times. They last one weekend (well, maybe two now), and sometimes its random 2 hour blocks, or random 4 hour blocks, basically, you have to be available during a limited time. Which isn’t always an option if you work or have kids or whatever.
Maybe one day I will do real blog posts again. I mean, technically this is probably closer to “real blogging” than silly reviews or whatever. I actually have been feeling… more into the idea again lately, I guess.
Technically the Fourth of July happened after last post, I went down to the bridge and watched the city fireworks as we often do.
Happy 4th of July… I guess. It’s the big “250th Anniversary” but it really doesn’t feel like anything here is worth celebrating. I don’t have plans. I might go watch fireworks later on the bridge around the corner. It’s never crowded and it’s got a nice view over the lake. I tried going tot he Zoo and Children’s Museum area last year but it was more crowded and the view was not great because of trees and light posts and people.
It’s been an eventful few weeks. Mostly because of new work activities traveling some. Funny story, without too much detail. A coworker retired, so I am covering a second location. I met with my coworker before he left, for a refresher on where things were at the site. I got there a week later, without him, and had the dumbest problem.
I could not figure out how to turn on the lights. In my normal location, everything is motion activated, at this location it’s not. And when I met with him, the lights were on, so I didn’t even think about it.
Oh look, slacka lackin again. It’s not even been that boring, just kind of uneventful. I’ve also had this vague annoaynce at the idea of AI slurping up all my dumb blog posts and using that data to make more dumb blog posts for others. Maybe I should stop trying to fix my typos to screw with it.
Oh geeze, it’s been 3 weeks, I thought it was just two.
So, I love Last.fm. I love tracking what I listen to and getting those little insights into my music habits, even if they are not always that surprising. If I were “less broke” I would subscribe to their cheap monthly plan just to support the service. I don’t plan to stop using them, but in this modern age where everything inevitably ends up enshitified I decided it would be a good idea to set up a self hosted scrobbling service.
