You sometimes hear older people complaining about how kids are not outside enough, and how parents are too helicopter parenting and all that. And while there are benefits to keeping track of your kids more, its also very clear where this comes from, because a lot of the stereotypes about kids running all over are pretty accurate.
They say the TV would ask “Do you know where your children are” to get parents to remember to check on their kids. Its definitely true.

Plenty of people use Discord these days, which is literally just the modern chat room. But this concept has existed essentially since the start of the internet. And even before.
There was a time in High School, where my friend and I figured out how to directly call each other over the computer to chat online. I mean, we could have just called each other, especially since we were doing it over dial up modems, but it was new and techy and super cool!
In boring normal life doings, the dumb Rider lawn mower is still acting iffy, despite the oil/oil filter change, despite the new battery. I’ve ordered a carburetor/solenoid kit, so hopefully that fixes it. The thing is like ten years old, and parts do wear out.
I’ve also got some spouts from the seeds in the garden a bit, I think. I had some long planters and put seeds for green onions and broccoli,
I feel like I am fairly fortunate. So far, I mostly manage to avoid joint pain. I sort of have a knee thing that comes up for like a day every couple of months, but its not terrible and I probably just sat on it funny. I do feel it when I over exert, like recently dealing with water in the basement put me out for a few days, but that was more muscle than joint issues.
I honestly don’t remember a ton about Y2K other than it was a thing. Its actually a little odd because I have always been into technology so it feels like a subject I would have cared about. But then, maybe knowing about technology helped me to understand the problem.and how fixable it was and, at the very least, understand how it was not going to be the end of the world.
